One of the most personal decisions you can make for any kitchen is the location and type of sink to incorporate. The way that you use your kitchen strongly influences your preferences.  Some homeowners prefer a double-sink while others opt for a large farmhouse sink. Are you a gourmet chef? Perhaps you will want a sink for food prep and another one for dishwashing? Make sure the latter is located near the cabinet where dishes are stored.  Farmhouse sinks are all the rage but often require custom cabinetry, which can be more expensive. Will you need an area for drying dishes? Or, will it have a cooktop or sink? If it is part of a working kitchen, be sure to select a countertop that can handle your toughest meal. Granite is particularly durable and can handle heat, wear, and tear while marble tends to stain more easily.
