Sell or Renovate - Severna Park?
The Client Experience

This modern makeover began when the clients, Leslie and David contemplated what to do with a home that had been part of their family for decades. After a family member passed away, they were faced with the decision of whether to sell the home or buy out other family members and renovate it. After much soul-searching, they decided to keep it in the family. They enlisted the help of Parker Design Build and in the words of Leslie, “took an out of date, worn out older house and turned it into a modern, beautiful showplace.”
SELECTIONS
Careful consideration was given to the selections of every room in order to complement the modern design. Leslie carefully selected lighting and plumbing fixtures to compliment the tile and granite selections throughout the home. While a modern design is evident throughout, the stones compliment rather than compete. The tile used in the guest bath is white with a black design running through it, while the exact same tile with the opposite features was utilized for the fireplace surround. Parker was also able to create a custom trim package which leans transitional but also has a custom element that is definitely more modern.
KITCHEN
Leslie knew exactly what she wanted to do with the kitchen cabinets but it was challenging to find a manufacturer that had the right combination of features. Parker was able to locate a manufacturer who had exactly what she desired! The walnut cabinets, with distinctive horizontal graining, are complemented by clean lines and black hardware. The tile backsplash enhances the overall design beautifully.
STAIRS
The couple discussed eliminating the staircase at the front entry, but there would be implications with that decision. David wanted the stairs to be part of the design so Parker created a custom staircase, incorporating wood elements that matched the flooring, along with a nautical cable design that complements the modern theme. The clients were elated with the outcome.
EXTERIOR
The exterior was updated too with new paint and a modern front entry door. In the rear of the home, a new screened porch was added with full view panels by Screeneze – notice there are no splines to get in the way of the views! It makes it feel as though you are literally outdoors.
SMART HOME
Parker also included smart home and audio/video features that make the home even more modern and easy to enjoy!
