This family home in Towson needed more square footage and some major updates to accommodate the growing family's needs. The home addition doubled the square footage and added a new kitchen, open living space, and more! View the photo gallery and learn more about this project!
This family had been outgrowing the home they loved, originally built in the 1950s. They were trying to decide between selling and renovating but they liked the area and didn't want to move, so they ultimately decided to stay and renovate.
Expanding the Footprint
The original home had a footprint of 1100 square feet, so as the family grew, the home needed to grow too! By expanding the footprint, they were able to virtually double the size of the home with a rear home addition. The new space in the addition included a modern kitchen, living area, master bedroom and bath, and covered porch.
As you would expect, any home that is more than 25+ years old, is probably going to require some modern updates. For this home, some of the updates were out of convenience, while others were required to comply with code and safety protocols. Electrical, plumbing, and mechanicals were all upgraded as part of this project.
Finishes & Fixtures
Every homeowner has certain elements they want to include in their dream renovation project. For this homeowner, a sliding barn door, a mudroom cubby built-in, and a modern kitchen with an open living space were some of the features they desired. Parker's design team provided all this and more!
