The Client Experience

When Ashley and Pete bought their home in Fallston, Maryland in 2020, it checked off a lot of the boxes! However, the home which was originally built in 2004, needed some updates to make it more suited to their tastes and lifestyle. So, amidst the Covid crisis, they contacted Chris Parker and the design build process began. Here’s the story of their dream home renovation project.

Ashley and Pete knew they wanted to update the first floor of the home with more modern design elements. After beginning the design process with Parker’s design team, they were able to visualize the project in much more detail. They were able to evaluate options and consider cost factors before the project ever began.  Pete noted, “There were several areas where Chris suggested some value engineering ideas for us to consider, which ultimately helped us achieve our budget goals.” But, as Ashley points out, “He and his design team also assisted in the selections process, and there were a few areas where we decided to spend a little more to get exactly what we wanted.” The design build approach was instrumental in keeping the client’s vision and budget aligned, throughout the process.

The remodeling project began with a completely tear out and rebuild of the kitchen. Accomplishing this, while the homeowner is still living in the home, can be a challenge, but as Ashley notes, “Chris’ team was so clean and respectful of our home. They put up zipped walls, had a dust reduction machine, and minimized the dust and dirt typically associated with a major remodel.” 

The kitchen transformation included new cabinetry, appliances, countertops, a large kitchen island, and a picture window that overlooks the back yard of the property. New wood flooring was integrated throughout the first floor of the home. 

The original entry that connected the garage and the main portion of the home was converted into a practical mudroom complete with built-in cubbies, new flooring, and an updated power room. The former breakfast room and wet bar were also updated to provide modern design elements and more functionality for their lifestyle. In the living room, molding and trim work were added to the fireplace wall to create a design focal point for the family’s main entertaining area.
